Referring to the Proclamation of 24th Septem-

ber relative to shipments to China we enclose a

Bill of Lading concerning fifty cases Scotch

whisky and one case advertisements per S.S."Peleus"

the date of which is 20th September. We write to

request permission of the Foreign Office that in

respect of this shipment having been made prior

to the Froclamation delivery may be allowed to the

consignees. The invoice value is £41. 4. 4. Our

bankers refused to handle the documents under the

terms of the Proclamation of 24th September.
